Simulation model considers propagation of a TEM wave in a one-dimensional line filled with a dispersive material represented by the Lorentz model and supplemented with Kerr and Raman nonlinearities:

The driving signal is centered at 137 THz and modulated with a hyperbolic secant function with a characteristic time constant 14.6 fs.
Excitation waveform.
The considered structure is excited with two different signal amplitudes and a pulse shape along the line is investigated. It can be noticed that the appropriate choice of the signal level causes that the shape of the pulse is better maintained along the dispersive line. This is the consequence of the opposite phenomena competing with each other, that is, dispersion and nonlinearities.

In addition, for signal level Ez0 = 12*10-10, a small daughter pulse, which is the third harmonic detached from the original pulse can be also observed.
